Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive nursing care to veteran patients and residents, supporting the highest level of clinical excellence and professionalism. This role includes health promotion, illness prevention, acute and chronic care management, and rehabilitation services. The RN plays a critical role in evaluating patient responses to treatment and supports individuals and families through end-of-life care. All care is provided in accordance with the Louisiana Registered Nurses Practice Act and within the RN's licensed scope of practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments and develop individualized plans of care aligned with interdisciplinary goals.
- Monitor and document changes in patient/resident health status and respond accordingly.
- Carry out prescribed interventions, delegate appropriate tasks, and ensure quality nursing documentation in the electronic medical record.
- Administer medications, including IV medications, in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
- Perform head-to-toe assessments, insert and manage IV and central lines (including PICC), and deliver wound care (sterile and non-sterile).
- Provide tracheostomy and non-acute ventilator care, suctioning, and tube feeding support.
- Assist with urinary and bowel elimination processes (e.g., catheters, colostomies).
- Educate patients/residents and families on health conditions, medications, and care plans.
- Respond to emergency situations with appropriate clinical interventions.
Collaborative Oversight & Supervision:
- Provide clinical oversight to Licensed Practical Nurses, Nursing Assistants, and Health Technicians.
- Maintain one-to-one observation of patients as needed, including virtual monitoring.
- Act as a liaison with physicians, promptly reporting any significant changes in condition.
Compliance & Safety:
- Uphold patient/resident confidentiality and ensure a safe care environment.
- Follow all VA and regulatory standards (e.g., The Joint Commission, Office of Inspector General).
- Safely manage hazardous waste and follow established protocols for restraint usage, medication handling, and infection control.
Qualifications:
- Current and unrestricted RN license in the state of Louisiana.
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience (VA or acute care experience preferred).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.
- Proficient in using electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Strong clinical judgment, time management, and interpersonal communication skills.
Preferred Skills & Competencies:
- Experience in long-term care, rehabilitation, or VA healthcare settings.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating within a multidisciplinary team.
- Compassionate approach to end-of-life care and veteran-centered service delivery.
Work Schedule:
- Scheduling will be available for 12-hour shifts.
- Candidates must be available for a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Shifts may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays depending on facility needs.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $62.46 - $66.63 per hour
Expected hours: 36 – 40 per week
