ACI Federal is seeking compassionate and caring CNAs for a local assignment at a facility that is solely dedicated to the evaluation and treatment of persons over the age of 65 in a 123-bed geriatric behavioral health hospital. This is not a travel assignment. 13 week contract with extensions.

FACILITY LOCATION: BURKEVILLE, VA

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


Overview: Administer care to elderly patients
You will work under the supervision of registered nurses (RNs) or licensed practical nurses (LPNs) to ensure the physical and emotional well-being of elderly individuals. Your primary responsibilities will revolve around assisting with daily activities, monitoring patient health, and providing companionship and support to improve their quality of life.

Key Responsibilities:
Assist elderly patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and eating.
Help patients with mobility by transferring them in and out of beds, chairs, or wheelchairs, and assisting with walking or exercise routines.
Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration, and report any abnormalities to the nursing staff.
Observe and document changes in patients' conditions or behaviors, and communicate effectively with the nursing team to ensure appropriate
interventions are implemented.
Provide emotional support and companionship to elderly patients, engaging in conversation, recreational activities, or simply offering a reassuring presence.
Follow established protocols and procedures for infection control, patient safety, and emergency response, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and facility policies.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members, including nurses, physicians, therapists, and social workers, to coordinate care plans and address patient needs effectively. Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in geriatric care, dementia management.

Qualifications:

  • Provides medical services at the scope and level of a Certified Nursing Assistant to preserve the health of employees and client personnel.
  • Systematically assesses the urgent or emergent health needs of patients, analyzes data, and formulates a plan of care, with other members of the medical team, which is realistic in relation to the employee’s capabilities and job requirements.
  • Recognizes and treats illnesses and injuries according to established operating instructions within the scope of licensing and regulations of state employment or practice.
  • Records and maintains patient information in accordance with standard protocols, and the Privacy Act.
  • Identifies and records the signs and symptoms of physical and mental conditions.
  • Thoroughly exercises skill in initiative, judgment, problem-solving and decision-making daily.
  • Able to make independent judgments and prioritizes workload.
  • Pursues professional development activities and continuing education to ensure you are current with present practices and trends in healthcare specifically in the practice of emergency medical treatment.
  • Follows the corporate safety policy.
  • Ensures safe operating conditions within the area of responsibility.
  • Identifies “close calls” and/or safety concerns to supervisory personnel.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

SHIFTS AVAILABLE:

2nd Shift: 3PM - 11:30PM

3rd Shift: 11:00PM - 7:00AM , (2)- 8 hour shifts and 7p- 7am (2) 12-hour shifts

Pay $24 per hour

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduated from an accredited CNA program.
  • High School Diploma.
  • Active and unrestricted Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) License in VA and ability to be favorably credentialed.
  • Must be able to multi-task, be detail-oriented, be organized and have excellent verbal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with computer and common office equipment, as well as with MS Office products required.
  • Must be able to perform duties in a stressful and high paced environment without physical limitations.
  • Ability to adapt to sudden changes and flexibility in work requirements to include potential shift changes based on operational needs and/or command priorities.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current BLS certification.
  • 3 years' experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
  • May require bending, stooping and lifting as required for patient care and transport.
