ACI Federal is seeking compassionate and caring LPNs for a local assignment at a behavioral health geriatric facility that is solely dedicated to the evaluation and treatment of persons over the age of 65 in a 123-bed geriatric hospital. This is a 13 week assignment with extensions.

FACILITY LOCATION: BURKEVILLE, VA

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Systematically assesses the urgent or emergent health needs of patients, analyzes data, and formulates a plan of care, with other members of the medical team, which is realistic in relation to the employee’s capabilities and job requirements.
  • Recognizes and treats illnesses and injuries according to established operating instructions within the scope of licensing and regulations of state employment or practice.
  • Records and maintains patient information in accordance with standard protocols, and the Privacy Act.
  • Identifies and records the signs and symptoms of physical and mental conditions.
  • Thoroughly exercises skill in initiative, judgment, problem-solving and decision-making daily.
  • Able to make independent judgments and prioritizes workload.
  • Pursues professional development activities and continuing education to ensure you are current with present practices and trends in healthcare specifically in the practice of emergency medical treatment.
  • Follows the corporate safety policy.
  • Ensures safe operating conditions within the area of responsibility.
  • Identifies “close calls” and/or safety concerns to supervisory personnel.

Assessing patients' mental health status

- Administering medications and monitoring their effectiveness

- Providing therapeutic interventions to patients

- Collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to ensure well-being of patients.

- Educating patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies

- Monitoring patients for any changes in behavior or symptoms

- Assisting with crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques

- Documenting patient progress and maintaining accurate medical records

Shifts 3pm-11pm, (5) 8-hour shifts

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited practical nursing program.
Current LPN licensure in the state of Virginia
CPR certification, American Heart Association
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
Prior experience in long-term care or geriatric nursing preferred but not required.
Ability to handle stressful situations with calmness and professionalism.
Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift, push, and pull heavy objects and residents.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Manual dexterity and visual acuity for administering medications and treatments.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
  • May require bending, stooping and lifting as required for patient care and transport.
