Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)

Overview: We are seeking dedicated and experienced Registered Nurses (RNs) to join our Labor and Delivery team. As an integral member of our healthcare community, you will provide specialized obstetric care to both normal and high-risk obstetric patients. Minimum Qualifications:

  • Degree/Education: Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN). BSN is preferred but not required. Graduation from a college or university accredited by NLNAC or CCNE is required.
  • Certifications:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through AHA or ARC.
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification through AHA or ARC.
    • Intermediate Fetal Monitoring and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications.
  • Experience: At least one (1) year of experience within the last three (3) years in a Labor and Delivery department.

Core Duties:

  1. Clinical Expertise:
    • Provide specialized obstetric care to normal/high-risk obstetric patients.
    • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of antepartum, labor, delivery, obstetric perioperative, postpartum, triage, and neonatal care.
  2. Medication Administration and Procedures:
    • Administer complex medications and perform treatments such as oxygen administration, fluid bolus, amnioinfusion, and contraction stress tests.
    • Serve as a circulator for planned and emergency cesarean sections and cesarean-hysterectomies.
  3. Emergency Response:
    • Respond promptly to emergencies, including instability of the mother and fetus and emergency childbirth.
    • Operate emergency equipment, including defibrillator, EKG machine, cardiac monitor, and more.
  4. Education and Counseling:
    • Instruct and demonstrate to patients/families on self-care during pregnancy.
    • Provide health promotions, counseling, and education.
  5. Patient Advocacy:
    • Assess patients' conditions for potential or life-threatening crises.
    • Distinguish between normal and abnormal physical findings and plan appropriate nursing care.
  6. Collaboration and Communication:
    • Coordinate patient care in collaboration with a diverse group of healthcare professionals.
    • Communicate and collaborate with healthcare providers, patients, and supporting community agency staff.
  7. Quality Assurance:
    • Ensure compliance with standards of care and practice.
    • Perform nursing triage within the ambulatory care arena, making independent triage decisions.
  8. Documentation and Record Keeping:
    • Document patient care and progress in patient's clinical record.
    • Utilize appropriate nursing personnel to assist in the delivery of care when indicated.
  9. Continuing Education:
    • Possess evidence of continuing nursing education relevant to the specific nursing specialty.

Qualifications:

  • Professional knowledge in a wide range of nursing concepts, principles, and Standards of Nursing Practice.
  • Ability to react with alertness and skill in any emergency situation.
  • Knowledge and ability to communicate effectively with healthcare providers, patients, and supporting community agency staff.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to manage relationships with patients and families.
  • Ability to assess and interpret data about the patient's status and provide age-specific care.
  • Knowledge of health care management principles and techniques.
  • Skill in operation of specialized medical equipment.

Shift Information: 3/12hrs shifts one week and 3/12hr shifts and an 8hr shift the following week
